We got so caught up with our “October for the Elderly” campaign that we almost forgot to share our September results. So… here’s a look at the good deeds done by the “Starenki” Foundation in September, in numbers and beyond!
Thanks to the joint efforts of our reliable partners—the regional branches of Caritas Ukraine, Territorial Centers—and our incredible community of volunteers, along with support from donors, we were able to:
Support elderly people in Kharkiv, Poltava, Dnipro, Chernihiv, Kyiv, and Lviv with 595 food packages, 45 warmth kits containing thermoses, blankets, and other essentials, 51 hygiene kits, and 12 household supply sets.
Organize social gatherings in several cities:
Dnipro: An art coffee workshop led by our heartfelt volunteers Sofia and Tetyana, where the elderly painted with coffee and created masterpieces.
Kyiv: A choir performance that filled seniors’ hearts with joy.
Poltava: A workshop where seniors crafted birds from yarn, dedicating care and patience to each piece.
Launch a large-scale project to support seniors in four regions of Ukraine with financial backing from World Jewish Relief. We’ll be sharing more details soon!
Team Gatherings
During a team-building session in Kyiv with part of the team, we reviewed the past year and mapped out our future plans. Our team meetings are also a space for mutual support, which we cultivate among colleagues.
Our Involvement in Key Events
Varvara Tertyshna, CEO of “Starenki,” attended the “Helpers of Heroes” Summit organized by ICAP Ednannia, where essential topics on building civil society were discussed.
Operations Manager Nadiya Matviychuk and Executive Assistant Daria Titarova completed training from Nova Poshta Business School, where they developed a fundraising project that won first place. But more on that later—stay tuned!
Veronika Burminova, “Starenki’s” Youth Engagement Manager, met with students in Poltava to discuss volunteering for the elderly and the importance of supporting older generations.
A big thank you to everyone who strengthens our work and makes life for the elderly in Ukraine warmer and more comfortable every day!
