Yevdokiya Shvargovska was born in the village of Roztoky in 1948. Over her 75 years, her life has been diverse, as she recalls.
She completed 8 grades at the local school and then worked in a collective farm. Mrs. Yevdokiya got married and had a good life with her husband, although they didn’t have children. She says that, like everyone, they had their ups and downs, but she only remembers the good times. Unfortunately, this year Mrs. Yevdokiya was left alone as her husband passed away. She admits that life became very difficult after her husband’s death, as he took care of everything around the household. She expresses a longing for him, wishing he could just be there, even doing nothing, and she deeply misses him.
Now, Mrs. Yevdokiya has to manage everything around the house by herself: work in the garden, improve the yard, and prepare firewood for winter. However, she confesses that it’s challenging for her, as her health is not what it used to be. She has one pig on her farm, but she can no longer tend to it. “We bought it together, and now I’m forced to just watch,” she shares.
She has a sister in the Cherkasy region, but her sister doesn’t visit because she has her own problems, as both of her sons are currently at war.
Mrs. Yevdokiya doesn’t consider herself happy. With sadness on her face, she recalls that most of her life was spent in poverty, and just when things started to improve, her husband passed away. Assistance from the “Starenki” foundation is very timely and necessary for her, as her pension is not enough for everything. She appreciates the help from social workers because she can’t always do everything on her own, although she tries to keep herself busy.
