Helping is always timely!

Shymko Svitlana Karlivna, born in 1931, a native of Kharkiv, worked her entire life on the railway and has 45 years of experience. She has been retired for a long time but still lives through memories of traveling almost the entire country and the former USSR.

However, her personal life did not unfold as expected. Her husband and later her children passed away early in life. Svitlana Karlivna felt such loneliness and despair.

In 2022 war broke out. Intense shelling, shattered windows, a partially ruined apartment. The woman endured all these horrific consequences of war alone. Observing her difficult life, neighbors occasionally helped her and eventually sought assistance from the “Home Care” project.

This is how social worker Irina entered her life. In the eyes of the elderly Irina, she saw despair, loneliness, and helplessness. Thanks to constant attention, care, and warm words, the woman’s soul warmed up. Irina helps Svitlana Karlivna with self-care, household management, and grocery shopping. They cook together and go for walks.

Svitlana Karlivna always expresses sincere gratitude to “Home Care” and the “Starenki” foundation for invaluable help. Like a child, she rejoices in warm slippers and a lantern (received from the “Starenki” foundation) and says she hasn’t received such gifts for a long time. The woman wrote a thank-you note to the “Home Care” project, expressing her gratitude to the “Starenki” foundation for such essential assistance in her life.
