Today we would like to talk about the tea gatherings — one of the warmest projects of our Foundation, both for the elderly and for our volunteers.
This is a special event where the elderly have the opportunity to leave their homes, get dressed up, and wear festive attire. For many of them, this is the only chance to “go out into the world,” where they can communicate with their peers and the younger generation — our volunteers, spend time interestingly, participate in workshops, gain new experiences, and create bright moments in their lives.
On July 12, in Dnipro, Starenki coordinators Sonya and Ksyusha, together with Caritas Donetsk, organized an event for 30 elderly individuals — locals, internally displaced persons, and those registered at the territorial center. Project managers, social workers, a psychologist, and volunteers from Caritas and Starenki, as well as the wonderful photographer Anna Savchenko, joined the event.
We are pleased and grateful for our community, which, despite the challenges with electricity, adapts the tea gatherings to the schedules of power outages so that elderly people can attend the event in an air-conditioned hall.
We thank our partners who support us in ensuring that there are always treats on the tables for the elderly. We appreciate our volunteers and partners for their compassion and collaborative efforts.
The best way to describe this event is to experience it in person. Join us in the cities where the Foundation is present! And if you wish to organize an event in your locality, we will be happy to assist and share everything we know.
