“Detector Media” has already told how volunteers of the “Starenki” foundation have been taking care of lonely grandparents for more than six years. The fund collects money, with which volunteers buy necessary products and household goods, form kits, deliver them together with social workers to the elderly and pay attention to them. In 2020, 9,000 such sets were delivered.
Branches of the fund were opened in Dnipro, Lviv, Kharkiv, Kramatorsk, Boryslav and Kolomyia. “Starenki” call on those who wish to join the teams in these cities, and also offer help in creating new centers. Volunteers urge not to look for those who are guilty or responsible for the situation, but simply to do what everyone can do. “Our dream is to someday close the fund, because our help would not be needed. Because the elderly would be heard by the community and under the supervision of the people who surround them,” says the director of the fund Maria Novokshchenova.
See in the video how the fund works and how seniors appreciate the help and attention they receive.
