We often host tea parties in Kyiv and other cities – social events for the elderly, where our grandparents communicate, socialize with caring volunteers, and enjoy treats. We regularly seek partners to help us organize small celebrations for the elderly. Bakery “Zarina” holds the record for supporting our tea parties in Kyiv with her own pies, as she has already provided pies for over 10 events for lonely seniors.
Bakery “Zarina” is a family business that has been making Ossetian pies since 2013 in Kyiv. They have their own small establishment but are actively involved in delivering pies around the city. We spoke with Zarina, the namesake of the bakery, and learned about how and why the establishment helps. Read about it below.
How did you learn about our foundation?
We saw an advertisement on the page of the blogger Alyona Horyacha (we love her very much and trust her a lot), so we decided to help the foundation and actively participate so that our business would be beneficial in a broader sense.
What prompted your company to become a partner of the charitable foundation “Starenki”?
Because we consider grandmothers and grandfathers in our country the least protected category of the population, but they are the ones who need help the most from us, especially when there is such a terrible war going on in the country.
What place in your personal life, as the owner of the brand, does charity occupy?
Charity has now become the foundation of life for many Ukrainians, including myself. Because only by joining forces can we defeat the enemy. We regularly donate to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, help your foundation, as well as animal shelters.
Do you have your own criteria or quality standards for the products you provide for charitable purposes?
Every pie is made with love from the highest quality and freshest ingredients. Our goal is not just to feed, but to feed in a way that grandmothers and grandfathers experience sincere pleasure.
Why do you think it’s important to support elderly people and what role can private companies play in this process?
Every company, every person can contribute a little good to this world. That’s how we fulfill ourselves and feel needed. This is what sets us apart – self-awareness, benefit, and love for others.
Do you think it’s important to openly talk about helping others?
Yes! Because other people will understand how they can be useful, set an example. Personally, I know people who want to help but don’t know how or where to turn, how they can be useful.
What advice would you give to other companies considering joining charity or partnering with social projects?
Act decisively. It’s cool and very important!
