This is Cheslava from the city of Kolomyia. She has lived in her apartment for 60 long years, the last 10 of which she has lived alone💔
Cheslava met her husband at the local agricultural machinery plant, where they worked together until retirement. Hard times befell them in their old age. The man had a stroke and afterward, he was bedridden. First on her own, then with the help of social workers, this old lady took care of her sick loved one until his last days.
“In old age, you experience many heavy losses,” says Cheslava sadly. Her close friend Taisiia died recently. The old women chatted on the phone for a long time every day. Cheslava is also very upset because of this loss.
Currently, she saves herself from sad thoughts with books and cooking. When the volunteers came to her with a food package, she was cooking borsch. She said that she loves to cook, but now her health and the cost of food do not allow her to do it as often as she would like.
Cheslava was very happy with the food package from our Foundation, because “there is oil there, which is too expensive now, but which is needed for cooking favorite dishes.”
Thank you to everyone who donates. Owing to your contribution, we provide elderly people with food packages, which they cannot afford due to a low pension. We are also very grateful to our partners from Caritas in the town of Kolomyia for helping in this region and supporting the seniors with their company, which they miss so much.
