Are you familiar with the World Bank Group? Perhaps you’ve heard that it’s a massive international financial institution providing assistance to developing countries. If you follow the ‘Starenki’ charity fund on LinkedIn, you may know that the World Bank has a ‘Community Connections’ program, supporting hundreds of non-profit organizations in combating extreme poverty and fostering global prosperity.
In 2022, the ‘Starenki’ charity fund became one such non-profit organization from Ukraine supported by World Bank employees under this aid program. Their contributions helped us provide food packages to around 4,000 elderly people in Ukraine last year!
Here’s another interesting fact about the World Bank: in 2023, ‘Starenki’ had the honor of participating in the ‘Community Connections’ charity campaign again. This time, not only did the World Bank team generously contribute to the Fund, but representatives from the World Bank office in Ukraine also volunteered with ‘Starenki’ for a day. Together, we prepared 100 food packages for the elderly in Kyiv. Later, Gevorg Sargsyan, the head of the World Bank’s office in Ukraine, and ‘Starenki’ director Maria Novokshchenova visited the elderly and delivered the food packages.
We had a great time with the Ukrainian World Bank team and are grateful for their contribution. We always say the best way to understand how ‘Starenki’ works is to become our volunteer. That’s how we build trust and long-term relationships with our partners—through shared values and joint activities.
Now you know more about our collaboration with the World Bank Group and how we help the elderly. If this story has inspired you, we’d love to see you among our friends. There are many ways to join us: become a volunteer, partner, donor, or ambassador. Reach out to us to do good together!
